Among other staff positions he worked in the administration of the late Mayor Harold Washington as press secretary for the corporation counsel of the Chicago Department of Law, and then under Mayor Richard M. Daley to launch the marketing communications efforts for the new Chicago Cultural Center as assistant commissioner for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. Also served as acting director of communications for the Illinois Housing Development Authority, University of Illinois-Chicago College of Education, and Illinois Institute of Technology School of Business. His writing on the arts, books, culture, politics and sports has been published widely, including the New York Times and Chicago Tribune among many others. He has also been a news writer and producer for the British Broadcasting Corp. (Television and Radio), an on-air contributor to Chicago Public Media (WBEZ-FM), producer and writer for WBBM-TV (CBS2 News Chicago), and a contributing writer, producer, and program host for Rivet Radio.
